Mo Music Activation
Mo Music Activation is an organisation to develop musical
talent and to provide musical education among the youth,
music-amateurs and semi-professionals with diverse
cultural backgrounds. Foundation Mo Music Activation
is initiated by Fra Fra Sound and Samponé Music
Productions.
Damsko United Brass Band
Damko United Brass Band is an Afro-Caribbean workshop
orchestra with circa twenty members, established in
2005 by musicians of Fra Fra Sound. Nowadays this orchestra
has developed into a swinging and sparkling exponent
of Afro-Caribbean music in Amsterdam. Every week the
members of Damsko United Brass Band meet for trainings
and rehearsals. The orchestra is open to new members
and participants of all ages and musical levels with
any kind of instrument.
Fra Fra Big Band
Fra Fra Big Band is an Afro-Caribbean jazz big band.
Fra Fra Big Band gets inspiration from the rich
musical
traditions of different continents and combines these
to get a perfectly balanced mix of styles.
Their music
swings as well on stage as on the CD. Fra Fra Big Band
has released three CD’s:
A Tan So (1993), Maspoti
Makandra (1998) and Krosbé (2004). On request
the big band is available for concerts.
Kara Dara
Young and powerful Afro-Funk. Kara Dara draws from the
pop styles of Aleke and Kawina from Surinam, Rumba
from Cuba and Mbalax from Senegal to follow its own
compelling musical direction. Guitarist/composer Andro
Biswane is one of the few musicians to combine classical,
jazz techniques and earthy black music traditions.
Kara Dara’s stage show also features powerful
female voices and graceful Afro-Modern dance. Kara
Dara’s first CD is being release in The Netherlands
in 2008.
Roots United
Electrifying Latin-Caribbean Jazz. Trumpeter and composer
Michael Simon chose seven of the best Latin, Caribbean
and jazz musicians in The Netherlands to join his band
and share his musical journey. Michael’s compositions
incorporate Afro-Caribbean and South-American rhythmical
traditions in a jazz-based context and Roots United
proves that the Latin jazz genre possesses a high level
of energy that is unique and electrifying.
