FRA FRA SOUND – US TOUR 2010
30th Anniversary Tour
After their successful US tour in September/October 2009, the internationally renowned Amsterdam based band Fra Fra Sound returns to spice up the United States with a new tour!
For three decades, the Surinam-Caribbean septet Fra Fra Sound has played a prominent part within the international jazz and world music scene. The new concert tour marks the 30th anniversary of the band and promises to be body moving and mind blowing. Seven exceptional musicians blend the sound of funk, kaseko, kawina and African Rhythms with jazz improvisations.
Fra Fra Sound feels at home all over the world - on world-music stages, jazz clubs,
festivals, theatres and concert halls. World-music lovers, jazz connoisseurs and crossover aficionados, all feel attracted to Fra Fra Sound’s catchy music.
Especially noteworthy is the concert promoted by the Center for Black Music Research. See JazzChigaco.net:
Although this set was concluding around 11pm, the excitable crowd was not ready to call it a night and coaxed the band into an encore which resulted in most rushing to the front to conclude this evening with all dancing. This truly was an appropriate way to end a very special performance.
